The TOF400C module utilizes the VL53L1X sensor’s advanced Time-of-Flight (ToF) principle, emitting short pulses of 940nm infrared laser light and measuring the time for the reflected photons to return to the SPAD (Single-Photon Avalanche Diode) array. This method provides high-precision, direct distance measurement largely immune to ambient light interference and target surface color or texture, offering superior performance compared to traditional infrared or ultrasonic sensors.
Designed for seamless integration, the module features a standard I2C interface with readily available driver libraries for popular development platforms. Its compact footprint and low-profile design make it ideal for integration into drones for altitude hold, robotics for obstacle avoidance and navigation, industrial equipment for non-contact positioning, and portable devices for gesture or proximity sensing.
