Generic Raindrops Detection Sensor Module with 5V Relay Module - Resistive Plate, LM393 Comparator
This rain detection sensor module combines a resistive PCB sensing plate with an LM393 comparator and a 5V SPDT relay for automated control. It provides both analog and digital outputs for qualitative moisture detection and is compatible with Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi systems.
Features
- Resistive PCB sensing plate detects water presence via conductivity changes.
- LM393 comparator provides adjustable threshold via onboard potentiometer.
- Integrated 5V SPDT relay enables direct switching of loads up to 10A.
- Dual output: analog signal for wetness level and digital TTL for rain/no-rain detection.
- Compact design with pre-drilled mounting holes for easy integration.

The module operates on a simple resistive principle. When water droplets bridge the exposed conductive traces on the FR-4 PCB, the electrical resistance decreases, altering the analog output voltage. This signal is processed by the onboard LM393 comparator, which can be fine-tuned with a potentiometer to set a precise digital trigger point. The digital output switches from HIGH to LOW (or vice-versa) when the threshold is exceeded, simultaneously activating the 5V SPDT relay for external load control.
Designed for qualitative detection rather than precise rainfall measurement, this module is ideal for applications requiring a binary rain presence signal and automated response. Its 5V DC operating voltage and standard 3-pin interface (VCC, GND, DO/AO) ensure straightforward integration with common microcontroller platforms and development boards.
