The module utilizes a cadmium sulfide (CdS) photoresistor, a passive component whose electrical resistance decreases with increasing incident light intensity. This change in resistance is converted into a variable analog voltage by the onboard 10kΩ pull-up resistor, forming a basic voltage divider circuit.
The resulting analog signal can be read by a microcontroller’s ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) pin, such as those found on Arduino boards, to quantify ambient light levels. The module operates on a standard 5V DC supply and provides a straightforward method for integrating light-dependent control or monitoring into electronic projects.
