Description

The OF05ZAT flow sensor utilizes a magnetic oval gear rotor mechanism. As liquid flows through the sensor body, it causes the rotor to spin. A magnet embedded in the rotor interacts with an integrated Hall-effect sensor, generating a corresponding pulse signal. The frequency of this pulse is directly proportional to the flow rate, enabling accurate digital measurement.

Constructed with a RoHS-compliant plastic housing, this sensor is suitable for non-corrosive liquids. It is engineered for reliable operation in a temperature range from -25°C to +70°C, making it suitable for various industrial, agricultural, and DIY fluid monitoring applications where precise flow data is required.

Key Features

  • Precision Oval Gear Design: Provides consistent and reliable flow measurement with an accuracy of ±1%.
  • Hall-Effect Digital Output: Delivers a clean, bounce-free pulse signal for easy interfacing with digital systems.
  • Broad Liquid Compatibility: Suitable for use with water, milk, gasoline, light oils, and diesel fuel.
  • Robust Environmental Rating: Operates effectively in temperatures from -25°C to +70°C and humidity from 35% to 90% RH (non-condensing).
  • Low Power Consumption: Draws ≤10mA at 5VDC, ideal for battery-powered or low-power monitoring systems.
  • Standard G3/8" Thread (DN10): Features a common threaded port for straightforward installation into pipelines and manifolds.

Applications

  • Precise fuel consumption monitoring and management systems for generators or vehicles.
  • Liquid dispensing and batching control in small-scale industrial or agricultural processes.
  • Water flow rate monitoring in hydroponic systems, aquariums, or irrigation setups.
  • DIY projects involving fluid flow measurement and data logging with Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
  • Monitoring coolant or lubricant flow in machinery and equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the output signal of this OF05ZAT flow sensor?

The sensor provides a digital pulse signal via its integrated Hall-effect sensor. Each pulse corresponds to a specific volume of liquid passing through. You can connect the signal wire to a digital input pin on a microcontroller (like an Arduino) to count pulses and calculate the flow rate.

What liquids can this flow meter be used with?

This sensor is compatible with a range of non-corrosive, non-aggressive liquids. This includes water, milk, gasoline, light oils, and diesel. It is not suitable for highly viscous fluids, corrosive chemicals, or abrasive slurries, as these may damage the plastic housing and internal rotor mechanism.

How do I connect and power this flow sensor?

The sensor typically has three wires: Red (VCC, connect to 5-18VDC), Black (GND), and Yellow or Blue (Signal/Pulse Output). Connect VCC and GND to your power supply, and the signal wire to a digital input or interrupt pin on your controller. Ensure your power supply is within the 5-18VDC range for reliable operation.

What is the accuracy and flow range of this sensor?

The OF05ZAT sensor has a specified accuracy of ±1% across its operational flow range of 3 to 300 liters per hour (L/H). For flows below 3 L/H, the measurement may become unreliable or the rotor may not turn. The optimal performance is within the specified range.
