The DS18B20 is a programmable digital temperature sensor utilizing a 1-Wire communication protocol, which minimizes wiring by requiring only a single data line plus power and ground. Its hermetically sealed stainless steel probe provides an IP68-equivalent waterproof rating, protecting the internal silicon sensing element from moisture, condensation, and corrosion, making it suitable for submersion and outdoor applications.
The sensor delivers 9 to 12-bit selectable resolution, allowing users to balance measurement precision against conversion time. Each device is factory-lasered with a unique 64-bit ROM code, enabling precise addressing and the connection of multiple sensors on a shared bus for distributed temperature monitoring systems in HVAC, aquaculture, or industrial process control.
