Description

The DFRobot Pan-Tilt HAT provides a versatile 2-DOF (degrees of freedom) platform designed for Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano boards. It directly connects to the 40PIN GPIO header, extending the host board’s GPIO pins for convenient use with additional peripherals. Control over the pan and tilt movements is managed via an efficient I2C interface, requiring only two signal lines, which simplifies integration and frees up other valuable GPIO resources.

At its core, the HAT incorporates a PCA9685 chip, capable of delivering 12-bit resolution PWM signals for exceptionally smooth and accurate servo control. Additionally, it features an onboard TSL25911FN sensor with a built-in ADC, designed to detect light intensity in a manner similar to human vision, enhancing its utility for advanced environmental sensing applications. Voltage level translators ensure broad compatibility with both 3.3V and 5V operating environments, and a dedicated acrylic board is included for securely mounting a Raspberry Pi camera.

This module is thoroughly tested for compatibility across all Raspberry Pi series and functions effectively with the Jetson Nano, making it ideal for a range of applications including image monitoring, object recognition and tracking. When paired with additional sensors like IR or ultrasonic distance modules, it can transform into a sophisticated detection system for robotics, enabling obstacle avoidance and interactive projects.
