DFRobot Gravity Gesture and Touch Sensor Module - UART Interface
The DFRobot Gravity Gesture and Touch Sensor is a UART-based module combining proximity-based gesture recognition with a 5-way capacitive touchpad, designed for easy integration with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other 3.3V/5V microcontrollers for interactive projects.
Features
- Combines proximity gesture detection (0-30cm range) with a 5-way capacitive touchpad.
- Recognizes seven distinct gestures: left, right, forward, backward, pull up, pull down, pull, and remove.
- Ultra-low power consumption with auto-sleep mode (40µA) and 56.3mA active current.
- Simple UART serial communication for direct connection to microcontrollers and single-board computers.
- Durable Gravity-series compatible design with a 36mm x 32mm footprint.

The DFRobot Gravity Gesture and Touch Sensor integrates an infrared proximity sensing array and a capacitive touch panel into a single module. The proximity system uses modulated IR signals to detect hand movements and gestures within an adjustable 0 to 30 cm range, while the capacitive touchpad senses direct contact on five independent zones. Onboard processing handles the gesture recognition algorithm, outputting simple serial commands to reduce host microcontroller load.
Designed for 3.3V to 5V logic systems, the module features a power-saving auto-sleep function, waking upon detected proximity or touch. Its robust construction and standardized Gravity connector interface ensure reliable performance in interactive installations, smart home controls, and educational robotics applications.
