Description

This sensor module utilizes a flexible 28 µm thick piezoelectric PVDF polymer film laminated to a polyester substrate. When bent or deformed, the film generates a high voltage signal proportional to the applied strain, enabling it to act as a sensitive vibration detector or a flexible switch. The integrated converter board conditions this signal, providing both a digital logic output for threshold-based detection and an analog output for measuring vibration intensity.

Designed for durability, the sensor operates from 0°C to 85°C and can withstand significant mechanical deflection. The on-board sensitivity adjustment allows fine-tuning for specific applications, from detecting minute vibrations to registering strong shocks. Its universal Gravity interface simplifies wiring, making it an ideal component for prototyping and embedded systems requiring reliable vibration sensing.

Key Features

  • High-sensitivity flexible PVDF piezoelectric film element.
  • Dual-output design: Digital (switch) and Analog (0-5V) signals.
  • On-board sensitivity adjustment potentiometer for custom threshold setting.
  • Robust construction with screen-printed Ag-ink electrodes and crimped contacts.
  • Wide operating temperature range of 0°C to 85°C.
  • Plug-and-play compatibility via the standard Gravity PH2.0 3-pin interface.
  • Compact and lightweight form factor for easy integration into projects.
  • Capable of generating high voltage signals (±90V) for direct MOSFET/CMOS triggering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the operating voltage for this sensor?

The sensor module is designed to operate at a standard 5V DC supply, which is compatible with most Arduino boards and other 5V logic microcontroller systems. Ensure your power source provides a stable 5V supply for proper operation of the onboard signal conditioning circuitry.

How do I connect this sensor to an Arduino?

Connection is simplified using the Gravity PH2.0 3-pin interface. Simply plug the connector into a compatible Gravity shield or use the individual pins: 'S' (signal) to an analog or digital pin, '+' to 5V, and '-' to GND on your Arduino. The module provides both analog and digital outputs simultaneously.

What is the difference between the digital and analog outputs?

The digital output acts as a switch, providing a HIGH/LOW signal when the vibration exceeds a threshold set by the onboard potentiometer. The analog output provides a variable voltage (0-5V) proportional to the vibration intensity, allowing for more detailed measurement and analysis of the signal strength.

Can this sensor detect very slight vibrations?

Yes, the flexible PVDF film is highly sensitive. You can adjust the onboard potentiometer to increase the sensitivity, allowing the sensor to detect very subtle vibrations and touches. Its wide dynamic range makes it suitable for applications from delicate sensing to high-impact detection.

What is the purpose of the on-board potentiometer?

The potentiometer adjusts the sensitivity and trigger threshold for the digital output signal. Turning it clockwise increases sensitivity (lowers the threshold), making the sensor trigger more easily. This allows you to calibrate the sensor for specific environmental conditions and application requirements.
