Description

The Arducam 8 MP camera module brings the popular Sony IMX219 image sensor to the Raspberry Pi ecosystem with enhanced flexibility. It connects via the standard Camera Serial Interface (CSI), providing a direct, high-bandwidth link for streaming high-resolution image data to the Pi’s GPU for processing. The inclusion of an M12 lens mount is a key differentiator, allowing developers and makers to swap lenses to achieve specific optical characteristics not possible with fixed-lens camera boards.

This module is engineered as a supplementary option to the official Raspberry Pi camera, addressing needs for different lens types, wider or narrower fields of view, and controlled depth of field. Its core IMX219 sensor is a proven 1/4-inch format CMOS component capable of capturing detailed 8-megapixel stills and smooth video up to 1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps. The built-in 650nm IR cut filter ensures accurate color rendition in typical lighting while the sensor’s inherent IR sensitivity opens doors for filtered night vision setups.
