The TCS3200D-TR from ams OSRAM is a programmable color light-to-frequency converter. It contains an array of photodiodes with integrated red, green, blue, and clear filters, coupled with a current-to-frequency converter. This architecture allows it to measure light intensity and color composition, outputting a square wave with a frequency directly proportional to the incident light intensity, simplifying data acquisition for embedded systems.
Engineered for reliability in consumer electronics and industrial environments, the sensor operates across an extended temperature range. Its spectral response is tailored with an infrared blocking filter to closely match the photopic response of the human eye, ensuring accurate ambient light assessment for automatic display backlight dimming and user interface adaptation.
