Description
The Adafruit Feather nRF52840 Sense is a compact and powerful development board engineered for sophisticated wireless and sensing applications. At its core is the Nordic nRF52840, an ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller operating at 64MHz, offering 1MB of flash and 256KB of SRAM. This robust processing capability, combined with native USB and a Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 radio, provides a highly versatile platform compatible with both Arduino IDE and CircuitPython, facilitating rapid prototyping and deployment of IoT solutions.
Beyond its core processing and wireless capabilities, the Feather nRF52840 Sense distinguishes itself with an array of integrated environmental and motion sensors. It includes a 9-DoF IMU (LSM6DS33 accelerometer/gyro and LIS3MDL magnetometer), an APDS9960 sensor for proximity, light, color, and gesture detection, a PDM microphone for sound sensing, an SHT humidity sensor, and a BMP280 for temperature and barometric pressure/altitude. This comprehensive sensor suite makes it an ideal choice for projects requiring detailed environmental monitoring, gesture control, or precise motion tracking.
Designed in the Feather form factor, the board also incorporates a battery charging circuit, ensuring portability for mobile applications. With 21 GPIO pins, including multiple ADC and PWM outputs, developers have ample flexibility for integrating external peripherals and actuators. The pre-programmed UF2 bootloader simplifies firmware updates, allowing for drag-and-drop programming directly onto the board, enhancing the user experience for both beginners and experienced embedded engineers.
