Description
The L293D Motor/Servo Driver Shield for Arduino is a highly versatile expansion board designed for robotics and motion control applications. This shield integrates two L293D motor drivers and a 74HC595 shift register, allowing it to efficiently expand Arduino’s I/O to manage multiple motor types. It provides control for up to four bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed adjustment, two stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar), and two 5V hobby servos.
Equipped with thermal shutdown protection and internal kickback protection diodes, the L293D chipset ensures reliable operation. Motors can be powered from an external supply ranging from 4.5VDC to 25VDC, delivering up to 0.6A continuous current per bridge. The shield simplifies wiring with large terminal block connectors and includes a jumper for managing separate logic and motor power supplies, safeguarding both the shield and the Arduino board. An easy-to-use Arduino software library is available, providing advanced control features including acceleration and deceleration for stepper motors.
