Adafruit Infrared IR Remote Receiver - STEMMA JST PH 2mm Module
The Adafruit Infrared IR Remote Receiver breakout board is designed for robust reception of 38kHz IR remote control signals, compatible with 3.3V/5V microcontrollers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 via its STEMMA JST PH 2mm connector for solderless wiring.
Features
- Dual-selectable IR receiver chips for optimal signal positioning and reception sensitivity.
- Integrated slide switch for manual selection between front and middle sensor positions.
- Demodulated 38kHz IR envelope output for direct decoding by microcontroller pulse-input pins.
- Visual status LEDs: green for power good, red blinking for active signal reception.
- STEMMA JST PH 2mm 3-pin connector enables plug-and-play wiring without soldering.

This IR remote receiver module is engineered to capture and demodulate high-powered infrared signals from standard consumer remote controls operating at the 38kHz carrier frequency. It features two independent IR receiver chips, allowing users to physically orient the most sensitive sensor towards the signal source via a manual slide switch. The board outputs a clean, demodulated active-low signal envelope suitable for direct input to a microcontroller’s digital I/O or dedicated IR decoding library.
The module includes status LEDs for power and signal activity, and is supplied as a fully assembled and tested PCB. Its STEMMA JST PH connector simplifies integration into prototyping systems, while mounting holes provide options for secure enclosure installation. It is specifically designed for command decoding applications and is not suitable for proximity sensing or non-38kHz IR signals.
