Pro-Range XKC-Y27C-NPN Non-Contact Liquid Level Sensor - DC 5-24V, NPN Output

The XKC-Y27C-NPN is designed specifically for non-metallic containers. It can reliably detect liquid levels through walls made of plastics (like PP, PVC, PE), glass, ceramics, or other insulating materials. It will not function correctly on conductive metal tanks as they shield the capacitive field.

The sensor's NPN output is an open-collector switch. Connect the Brown wire to your DC 5-24V positive supply, the Blue wire to ground, and the Black (signal) wire to your microcontroller input pin. You must add an external pull-up resistor (e.g., 10kΩ) between the Black wire and the positive supply voltage (3.3V or 5V, matching your logic level) for the signal to be read correctly.

The sensor is rated for a standard detection distance of up to 8mm through the container wall. The effective range can vary based on the material's dielectric constant. For optimal performance, the sensor face should be mounted flush against the outer wall, and the sensitivity potentiometer should be adjusted while the container is in its typical empty/full states to set the trigger threshold.
