LJ12A3-4-Z/BX Inductive Proximity Sensor NPN NO DC6-36V 4mm Range
The LJ12A3-4-Z/BX is a 12mm cylindrical inductive proximity sensor with a 4mm detection range for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Featuring an NPN normally open (NO) output, it operates on a wide 6-36V DC supply, making it compatible with industrial PLCs, microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and 24V automation systems for non-contact object detection.
Features
- Non-contact inductive sensing for metals (iron, steel, aluminum, copper) up to 4mm.
- NPN normally open (NO) 3-wire output compatible with PLCs and microcontroller sinking inputs.
- Wide operating voltage range from 6V to 36V DC for flexible system integration.
- Compact M12 threaded cylindrical body (12mm diameter, 64mm length) for easy panel mounting.
- Rugged metal housing with plastic sensing face for durability in industrial environments.

The LJ12A3-4-Z/BX is a tubular inductive proximity switch that generates an oscillating electromagnetic field from its sensing face. When a metallic target enters the 4mm nominal sensing range, it causes eddy current losses that dampen the oscillation, triggering the internal solid-state switch to change state. This provides a reliable, wear-free alternative to mechanical limit switches.
Engineered for industrial durability, its metal body and sealed construction offer resistance to oil, dust, and mechanical impacts common in automation settings. The integrated 1-meter cable simplifies wiring directly to control terminals. The sensor delivers a clean digital output suitable for counting, positioning, end-of-travel detection, and safety interlocking in high-cycle applications.
