Generic YF-S401 Water Flow Sensor Flowmeter 0.3–6L/min - 1/8" Nozzle
The YF-S401 is a Hall-effect-based water flow sensor module with a 1/8″ nozzle, providing a pulse-width output signal proportional to flow rate from 0.3 to 6 L/min. It is compatible with 3.5-24V DC systems and interfaces directly with microcontrollers like Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 for liquid flow monitoring and control.
Features
- Hall-effect sensor with magnetic rotor for non-contact flow measurement.
- Wide operating voltage range from 3.5 to 24V DC for flexible system integration.
- Standard 1/8″ nozzle size for easy inline installation in liquid systems.
- Pulse-width output signal for direct interface with digital microcontroller inputs.
- Compact plastic body design with a flow range of 0.3 to 6 liters per minute.

The YF-S401 water flow sensor operates on a Hall-effect sensing principle. As liquid passes through the valve body, it drives a magnetic rotor. A built-in Hall-effect sensor detects each rotation of the rotor, generating a corresponding digital pulse. The frequency of this pulse output is directly proportional to the volumetric flow rate, enabling precise flow measurement and totalization.
Constructed with a plastic housing, the sensor is designed for water and compatible low-viscosity liquids. Its electrical interface is simple, requiring only power, ground, and a signal line to a digital input pin on a host controller. This makes it suitable for integration into automated watering systems, appliance monitoring, and DIY fluid control projects.
