Waveshare Env Sensor HAT Raspberry Pi I2C Module with OLED Display
The Waveshare Env Sensor HAT is a multi-parameter environmental monitoring module designed for Raspberry Pi via 40-pin GPIO. It integrates sensors for temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, ambient light (IR/visible), UV index, VOC detection, and a 9-axis IMU (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer), outputting data via I2C for easy integration with Raspberry Pi OS, Arduino, or other microcontrollers.
Features
- Multi-sensor HAT integrating BME280 (temp/humidity/pressure), TSL25911FN (ambient light), LTR390-UV-1 (UV index), SGP40 (VOC), and ICM20948 (9-axis IMU).
- Direct 40-pin GPIO compatibility with all Raspberry Pi models (Zero to 4B) for plug-and-play I2C communication.
- Onboard 1.3-inch OLED display for real-time visualization of sensor readings without external monitors.
- Integrated voltage level translators (5V to 3.3V/1.8V) ensure safe operation with 3.3V I2C bus and sensor logic.
- Includes comprehensive Python libraries and code examples for rapid prototyping and data logging applications.

The Waveshare Env Sensor HAT consolidates six precision sensing elements onto a single Raspberry Pi add-on board, providing a comprehensive environmental and motion data acquisition platform. The BME280 digital sensor delivers calibrated temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure readings, while the TSL25911FN high-sensitivity light sensor captures both infrared and visible light spectra for accurate lux calculation. The LTR390-UV-1 provides UV index measurement, and the SGP40 metal-oxide VOC sensor detects a wide range of volatile organic compounds for indoor air quality assessment.
Motion and orientation tracking is handled by the TDK InvenSense ICM20948 9-axis MEMS IMU, combining a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, and 3-axis magnetometer for full attitude estimation. An onboard 1.3-inch OLED display offers immediate visual feedback. The module includes built-in logic level shifters, allowing seamless I2C communication between the Raspberry Pi’s 3.3V GPIO and the various sensor ICs operating at 1.8V or 3.3V, ensuring reliable data integrity across the bus.
