The sensor operates on a capacitive sensing principle, which measures the dielectric constant of the soil to determine its moisture content. This method is superior to resistive sensing as it eliminates electrode corrosion, ensuring stable and reliable long-term measurements in various soil types.
It features an integrated voltage regulator, allowing seamless integration with both 3.3V and 5V logic systems common in Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi platforms (the latter requiring an external ADC). The compact, flat PCB design is engineered for easy insertion into potting soil or garden beds.
