Seeed Studio Studio Grove EMG Detector Module - 3.5mm Connector w/ Electrodes & Cable
The Seeed Studio Studio Grove EMG Detector is a muscle signal acquisition module compatible with 3.3V/5V Arduino and Raspberry Pi systems. It features a 3.5mm connector, includes disposable electrodes, and outputs a processed voltage signal corresponding to muscle activity for integration into control systems and biofeedback projects.
Features
- Grove-compatible interface for easy connection to microcontroller development boards.
- Operates on a 3.3V to 5V DC supply, making it compatible with a wide range of systems.
- Includes six disposable surface electrodes and a 1000mm cable lead for user setup.
- Processes raw EMG signals with secondary amplification and filtering for a clean output.
- Outputs a 1.5V (standby) to 3.3V (active) analog signal readable by ADC inputs.

The Grove EMG Detector serves as a bridge between the human body’s electrical muscle activity and electronic control systems. It captures small myoelectric potentials via surface electrodes, processes the signal through a two-stage amplification and filtering circuit, and outputs a conditioned analog voltage. This output signal, which rises with muscle contraction, can be directly interfaced with an Arduino’s analog input or other microcontrollers for biofeedback applications, robotic control, or muscle activity monitoring.
Designed for educational and prototyping use, the module outputs a nominal 1.5V at rest, increasing up to a maximum of 3.3V upon muscle activation. It is important to note that this sensor is intended for non-medical, experimental applications only. The included JST cable and 3.5mm auxiliary jack simplify physical connections to the electrode leads.
