Mini OSD FOR APM 2.6/2.8
The Mini OSD FOR APM 2.6/2.8 is a compact on-screen display module designed for ArduPilot Mega (APM) flight controllers, overlaying MAVLink telemetry data onto an FPV video feed for real-time flight monitoring without a ground station.
Features
- ATmega328P microcontroller with Arduino bootloader for easy firmware updates.
- MAX7456 monochrome OSD chip for crisp, low-latency video overlay.
- Dual independent power sections isolate digital and analog stages for clean video output.
- Compatible with APM 2, 2.5, 2.6, and 2.8 via MAVLink telemetry stream.
- FTDI-compatible 6-pin header for programming and configuration.

This Mini OSD module integrates an ATmega328P microcontroller and a MAX7456 OSD chip to provide a dedicated telemetry overlay solution for APM-based autopilots. It parses the MAVLink data stream from the flight controller, superimposing critical flight parameters like battery voltage, GPS coordinates, altitude, and flight mode directly onto the pilot’s FPV video feed. The board’s compact 58x22mm footprint makes it suitable for integration into tight builds.
Electrical design features two isolated power domains: a +5V digital section for the microcontroller and a regulated +5V analog section for the video stage, which can accept inputs up to +12V. This separation minimizes noise and ensures a stable, clear OSD overlay. Solder jumpers allow configuration for PAL video standard and optional power domain combination. The module is programmed via a standard 6-pin FTDI cable, facilitating custom character sets or firmware modifications.
