Description
This IR-Cut camera module is engineered for Raspberry Pi-based vision applications requiring reliable day/night operation. It features a 5-megapixel OV5647 CMOS sensor paired with a fixed-focus 3.6mm lens (F1.8 aperture, 60° diagonal FOV) to capture high-quality 1080p video streams and 2592 x 1944 pixel still images. The core innovation is the manually-switchable IR-Cut filter, which physically moves to block infrared light during the day for true-to-life colors and retracts at night to allow maximum IR sensitivity.
Integrated control circuitry includes an adjustable resistor for setting a precise ambient light threshold, enabling automatic toggling of the onboard infrared LED array for seamless day-to-night transitions. The module supplies 3.3V power via screw terminals to drive additional external IR LEDs for extended night vision range. Connection is simplified via a 15-pin FFC ribbon cable to the Pi’s native CSI interface, ensuring full driver support in Raspbian for immediate use in security, monitoring, or machine learning projects.
