Description
The OV2640 is a single-chip, low-power CMOS image sensor that integrates a VGA camera core and an advanced image processor. It outputs full-frame, sub-sampled, or windowed 8-bit image data in various formats, all configurable via the Serial Camera Control Bus (SCCB). This interface is functionally identical to I2C, allowing straightforward integration with microcontrollers like the ESP32 or STM32 for on-device image capture and processing.
Engineered for embedded portable applications, the module operates from a 3.3V supply and consumes only 60mW. Its on-chip ISP provides key automatic image control functions—including AEC, AGC, AWB, and noise reduction—to ensure consistent image quality across varying lighting conditions without significant MCU overhead. The sensor’s high sensitivity also supports usable performance in low-light environments.
