Description
The Arducam IMX296 camera module is engineered for embedded vision applications requiring precise, high-speed image capture. Its core component is the Sony IMX296, a 1.58-megapixel color global shutter CMOS sensor. Unlike rolling shutter sensors, the global shutter exposes all pixels simultaneously, completely eliminating skew, wobble, and partial exposure artifacts caused by subject or camera motion. This makes it indispensable for industrial machine vision, robotics, and barcode scanning.
Integrated with a standard M12 lens mount and a 6mm focal length lens offering a 55-degree horizontal field of view, the module provides optical flexibility. The manual focus ring allows fine-tuning for specific working distances, enhancing image clarity in challenging lighting or macro scenarios. The sensor’s 3.45µm pixel size and integral IR-cut filter ensure accurate color reproduction under visible light. The module communicates via a standard CSI-2 interface over a flexible flat cable (FFC), drawing power directly from the Raspberry Pi’s camera connector.
