Description
The Button SHIM from Pimoroni expands your Raspberry Pi’s capabilities by adding five convenient physical buttons and an integrated RGB status LED. Its innovative SHIM-format design allows it to be neatly soldered directly onto your Raspberry Pi’s GPIO pins, maintaining a low profile that enables the concurrent use of other HATs and pHATs. Alternatively, the included female header facilitates standalone operation for flexible prototyping.
Physical interaction and visual feedback are crucial for many embedded projects, and the Button SHIM excels in this role. The buttons and LED are positioned to protrude slightly from the top edge of the Pi, ensuring easy access and intuitive control. The integration of a TCA9554A I/O expander for button state reading and LED control ensures that the majority of your Raspberry Pi’s GPIO pins remain available for other peripherals, assuming no I2C address conflicts (default 0x3f). Pimoroni provides a Python library and example programs to simplify integration, covering functions like audio control, LED management, and mimicking key presses.
