Description
This 2-channel CAN bus expansion HAT is engineered specifically for Raspberry Pi, offering high-reliability CAN 2.0 communication. It employs a robust dual-chip solution with two MCP2515 CAN controllers and two SI65HVD230 (or SN65HVD230) CAN transceivers, enabling two independent CAN channels for demanding applications.
Designed with industrial and automotive environments in mind, the HAT incorporates multi-onboard protection circuits. This includes integrated power isolation, which eliminates the need for an external power supply for the isolated terminal, and a digital isolator for secure, stable, and interference-resistant signal communication. Further enhancing its ruggedness, an onboard TVS diode provides essential ESD and transient peak voltage protection, while a voltage translator allows for flexible 3.3V/5V logic level selection via jumpers. SPI control pins are also broken out for interfacing with other host controllers like STM32 or Arduino.
