Description
The Raspberry Pi Pico W enhances the popular Pico platform by incorporating an Infineon Technologies CYW43439 wireless chip, providing integrated 2.4GHz 802.11n Wi-Fi capabilities. This addition makes the Pico W an ideal choice for internet of things (IoT) applications, projects requiring remote monitoring, or wireless data exchange, extending the reach and utility of the foundational Pico design. While the CYW43439 also supports Bluetooth 5.2, only Wi-Fi functionality is enabled at launch.
At its core, the Pico W utilizes Raspberry Pi’s custom-designed RP2040 microcontroller, featuring a dual-core ARM Cortex-M0+ processor operating at up to 133MHz. It offers 256KB of on-chip SRAM and 2MB of QSPI Flash memory, ensuring ample resources for complex embedded applications. The board exposes 30 GPIO pins (26 usable by the user), including support for various interfacing options like SPI, I2C, UART, and PWM, providing extensive peripheral connectivity for sensors, actuators, and other components.
