The Waveshare OV9281-110 camera module integrates an OmniVision OV9281 1MP CMOS sensor featuring a global shutter. Unlike rolling shutter sensors, the global shutter captures the entire image simultaneously, which is critical for applications involving high-speed motion where image distortion must be avoided. This makes it a preferred choice for robotics, automated optical inspection (AOI), and barcode scanning.
The module is engineered for seamless integration with the Raspberry Pi ecosystem. It connects via a supplied 15-pin flat flex cable (FFC) to the Pi’s CSI-2 interface, requiring no additional signal conditioning. The lens provides a 110-degree diagonal field of view with a fixed focal length of 2.1mm and a manual focus adjustment, allowing fine-tuning for specific working distances. Its monochrome output simplifies image processing algorithms and can enhance contrast detection in machine vision tasks.
