TEC1-12706 40×40mm 6A Thermoelectric Peltier Cooler Module
The TEC1-12706 is a 40×40mm thermoelectric Peltier cooler module designed for solid-state heating and cooling applications. Operating at 12V DC with a maximum current of 6A, it transfers heat via the Peltier effect, making it suitable for integration with microcontrollers like Arduino and industrial thermal management systems.
Features
- 127 semiconductor couples for efficient heat transfer across a 40×40mm ceramic surface.
- Maximum operating current of 6A (Imax) with a maximum power dissipation of 92W.
- Solid-state, vibration-free operation with a high operating temperature limit of 138°C.
- Reversible polarity allows switching between heating and cooling modes.
- Includes 200mm pre-soldered power leads for simplified installation.

The TEC1-12706 thermoelectric module utilizes the Peltier effect to create a controlled temperature differential. When DC power is applied, heat is actively pumped from one ceramic face to the other, establishing distinct hot and cold sides. This solid-state operation provides precise thermal management without moving parts, noise, or vibration.
Constructed with 127 bismuth telluride semiconductor couples sandwiched between alumina ceramic plates, the module offers reliable performance for extended duty cycles. Critical to operation is the mandatory use of an external heatsink on the hot side to dissipate waste heat and prevent thermal runaway. The module’s 1.98-ohm internal resistance and 12V nominal operating voltage make it compatible with standard DC power supplies and motor driver circuits.
