The HTU21D from TE Connectivity (formerly Measurement Specialties) is a high-performance MEMS-based capacitive humidity sensor with an integrated band-gap temperature sensor. It delivers fully calibrated, linearized digital signals via a two-wire I2C interface, simplifying system design and reducing microcontroller processing overhead. The sensor’s robust silicon-based construction ensures long-term stability and fast recovery from condensation or saturation events.
Designed for high-volume and cost-sensitive applications, the HTU21D operates from 1.8V to 3.6V, making it compatible with modern low-power microcontrollers. It features adjustable resolution for power vs. accuracy optimization and includes a low battery detection function. The optional F version incorporates a hydrophobic PTFE membrane filter, providing IP67-equivalent protection against dust and water ingress without significantly impacting sensor response time.
