This breakout board provides a comprehensive motion-sensing solution by pairing the low-power, high-performance ICM-20948 MEMS IMU with a programmable SAMD21 microprocessor. The ICM-20948 handles precise inertial measurement with configurable full-scale ranges for its accelerometer and gyroscope, while its onboard Digital Motion Processor offloads complex sensor fusion algorithms from the host microcontroller, improving system efficiency.
The module is designed for rapid prototyping and integration, featuring both the solderless SparkFun Qwiic connector system and traditional 0.1″-spaced header pins. The integrated SAMD21 can be programmed via the onboard USB-C connector using the Arduino IDE, allowing for custom firmware development, real-time data streaming, or autonomous logging of sensor data to the microSD card.
