Pro-Range XKC-Y28-NO-DC 12V Non-Contact Liquid Level Sensor

The sensor is nominally rated for 12V DC operation, typical for industrial control systems. It is designed to be compatible with a common 12-24V DC supply range, ensuring stable performance when connected to standard PLC power rails or dedicated 12V adapters. Always verify your power supply matches the sensor's input specifications before installation.

This sensor uses a capacitive sensing principle. It detects the change in dielectric constant when a liquid is present behind a container wall, without needing physical contact with the fluid. It is specifically designed for use with non-metallic containers such as plastic (PP, PE, PVC), glass, or ceramic. It will not function correctly on conductive metal tanks.

An IP67 rating denotes the sensor is completely protected against dust ingress (6) and can withstand temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes (7). This makes it suitable for washdown areas, outdoor environments, and applications where it may be exposed to splashes, humidity, or occasional direct water contact, ensuring long-term reliability.

The sensor includes a built-in sensitivity adjustment potentiometer. To calibrate, mount the sensor on the outside of the empty container at the desired detection level. Slowly adjust the potentiometer until the output LED indicates detection (or the output signal activates), then back off slightly until the indication stops. This fine-tunes the sensor for your specific container thickness and liquid type.

The XKC-Y28-NO model provides a digital Normally Open (NO) output. When the sensor detects liquid, the output switch closes, completing the circuit to ground. This output is typically used to drive a PLC digital input, control a relay coil, or trigger an alarm circuit directly, making integration straightforward for automated control systems.
