The E38S6G5-360B-G24F encoder is designed to operate from a wide DC voltage range of 5V to 24V. This flexibility allows it to be powered directly from common microcontroller logic levels (5V) or higher industrial PLC supply rails (12V or 24V) without requiring an additional voltage regulator.

The encoder provides two digital square wave outputs, Channel A and Channel B, which are 90 degrees out of phase (quadrature). By monitoring the sequence of rising edges (A leading B or B leading A), your controller can determine the direction of rotation. Counting the pulses from either channel gives you position, while using both channels provides four times the resolution via quadrature decoding.

This encoder features a compact 38mm outer diameter housing. It is designed for PCB mounting via a central 38mm diameter hole, with the encoder body passing through. You must secure it using the integrated flange or supplied hardware, ensuring the shaft is properly aligned with your motor or rotating assembly to avoid binding.

As a photoelectric encoder, it is capable of higher rotational speeds than mechanical contact types. The maximum speed is limited by the response frequency of its internal electronics and the pulse rate. For 360 PPR, ensure your controller's input circuit can handle the maximum pulse frequency generated at your application's top speed.
