MG811 CO2 Carbon Dioxide Gas Sensor Module - Analog & Digital Output
The MG811 CO2 Gas Sensor Module is a metal-oxide (MOx) based sensor designed for detecting carbon dioxide concentrations from 0 to 10,000 ppm. It provides both analog voltage output and a configurable digital TTL output, making it compatible with development platforms like Arduino and Raspberry Pi (with an external ADC).
Features
- Metal Oxide (MOx) CO2 sensor with 0-10,000 ppm detection range.
- Dual output: Analog voltage (decreases with rising CO2) and configurable digital TTL.
- Onboard potentiometer for setting digital output threshold and status LED.
- Requires 6V DC operating voltage for proper heater operation.
- Compact module format for easy integration into air quality monitoring systems.

The MG811 module utilizes a heated metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) sensing element specifically tuned for carbon dioxide. The sensor requires a 6V supply to power its internal heater, which brings the sensing element to its optimal operating temperature. As CO2 concentration increases, the sensor’s conductivity changes, resulting in a corresponding decrease in the analog output voltage signal.
This module includes signal conditioning circuitry that provides a stable analog output and a digital output that triggers when a user-defined concentration threshold is exceeded, set via the onboard potentiometer. Its design is suited for basic air quality assessment, educational projects, and non-critical environmental monitoring where NDIR sensors may be cost-prohibitive, though it may exhibit cross-sensitivity to other gases.
