The KSD9700/BK05-BB1D is a bimetallic disc thermostat housed in a metallic shell. It functions as a normally closed (NC) switch that remains conductive under normal operating temperatures. When the ambient temperature around its sensing surface reaches the calibrated trip point of 105°C, the bimetallic disc snaps open, breaking the electrical circuit to protect downstream components from thermal damage.
This thermal protector is designed for direct series connection in the power line of devices such as transformers, motors, heaters, and power supplies. Its metallic housing provides excellent thermal transfer for accurate sensing and mechanical robustness. The device resets automatically once the temperature cools below the reset hysteresis point, typically several degrees below the trip point, restoring circuit continuity.
