Description

The DFRobot Gravity DHT11 module integrates a calibrated digital DHT11 sensor, which combines a resistive humidity sensing element and an NTC thermistor. An onboard 8-bit microcontroller processes the analog signals, applies stored calibration coefficients from OTP memory, and outputs a calibrated digital signal, ensuring measurement accuracy and stability. The module includes signal conditioning circuitry for reliable communication.

Designed for ease of use, the module features a standardized Gravity 3-pin connector (VCC, GND, SIG), eliminating complex wiring for quick prototyping with DFRobot expansion shields, Arduino boards, Raspberry Pi, and other 3.3V/5V logic systems. Its low power consumption and digital interface make it suitable for portable and battery-powered environmental monitoring applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the operating voltage range for this DHT11 module?

The DFRobot Gravity DHT11 module operates from 3.3V to 5V DC, making it directly compatible with most Arduino boards (5V), Raspberry Pi (3.3V), and other 3.3V/5V microcontroller platforms without requiring a logic level converter.

How do I connect this sensor to an Arduino?

Connect the module using its 3-pin Gravity connector: VCC to 5V (or 3.3V), GND to GND, and the SIG (signal) pin to any digital I/O pin on your Arduino. Utilize the DHT library to read the digital temperature and humidity values. For easiest integration, use a DFRobot Gravity shield.

What is the measurement accuracy and sampling rate?

The integrated DHT11 sensor provides humidity readings from 20-90% RH with ±5% accuracy and temperature readings from 0-50°C with ±2°C accuracy. A sampling period of at least 2 seconds is required between readings for stable data.

Can this sensor be used outdoors?

While the sensor element itself is rated for 0-50°C operation, the module's PCB is not waterproof. For outdoor use, the sensor must be housed in a protective, ventilated enclosure that shields it from direct rain and condensation while allowing air exchange for accurate readings.
