The Crowtail Sound Sensor module utilizes a simple electret microphone element to capture acoustic signals. The raw audio input is processed through a band-pass filter and amplified by an LMV358 operational amplifier, producing a stable analog voltage output that corresponds to the relative loudness of the detected sound. This design ensures a clean, conditioned signal suitable for direct ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter) input on microcontrollers.
The module is engineered for easy integration into prototyping environments, featuring a standard Crowtail 4-pin interface that mates directly with compatible base shields. The on-board potentiometer allows fine-tuning of the sensor’s sensitivity and output baseline, enabling customization for different acoustic environments and detection thresholds.
