DSM501A PM2.5 Dust Sensor Module for Arduino & Air-Conditioners - Analog Output
The DSM501A is a compact PM2.5 dust sensor module designed for 5V systems like Arduino, providing analog output for monitoring airborne particulate matter larger than 1 micron, including dust, pollen, and tobacco smoke, making it suitable for air quality monitoring in HVAC and consumer electronics.
Features
- Optical sensing principle detects particles ≥1.0 micron (dust, pollen, smoke).
- Analog output signal (Vout) varies with Particle concentration (clean air ~4V).
- Single 5V DC power supply with integrated airflow generator for passive sampling.
- Compact, lightweight plastic and aluminum housing for easy integration.
- Specified for -10°C to +65°C operation in air purifiers and monitoring instruments.

The DSM501A PM2.5 dust sensor operates on a light scattering principle, where an internal optical system detects the concentration of suspended particles larger than 1 micron in the sampled air. The module includes a built-in airflow generator to draw external atmosphere across the sensing chamber, ensuring consistent sampling for accurate relative Particle density measurement.
Designed for integration into 5V logic systems such as Arduino development boards and industrial air-handling units, the sensor outputs a variable analog voltage signal proportional to particulate concentration. This signal can be directly read by a microcontroller’s ADC pin for real-time air quality assessment, enabling control logic for purifiers or data logging in monitoring stations.
