Description
The Arduino Ethernet Shield 2 facilitates seamless internet connectivity for your Arduino projects, leveraging the robust Wiznet W5500 Ethernet chip. This controller provides a comprehensive network (IP) stack, supporting both TCP and UDP protocols and managing up to eight concurrent socket connections. The shield connects to Arduino boards using long wire-wrap headers, preserving the original pin layout and allowing for additional shields to be stacked, enhancing project flexibility.
This shield incorporates a standard RJ-45 connection with an integrated line transformer and Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities, streamlining power delivery in network installations. An onboard micro-SD card slot offers convenient storage for network-served files or data logging. The Ethernet Shield 2 maintains compatibility with the Arduino Uno and Mega when utilizing the Ethernet library, with the micro-SD card accessible via the SD Library (SS on Pin 4).
Additionally, the shield includes a dedicated reset controller to ensure proper initialization of the W5500 module upon power-up. It also features several informational LEDs, including ON (power), ACT (activity), and LINK (network status). For expanded functionality, the shield integrates TinkerKit compatible connectors for two analog inputs, two analog outputs, and a TWI interface, simplifying connections to a wide range of sensors and actuators.
