Frequently Asked Questions

What is the default I2C address of the Adafruit LPS22 module?

The default I2C address is 0x5D. A solder Jumper on the breakout board allows you to change the address to 0x5C if needed to avoid conflicts with other I2C devices on the same bus.

Is this sensor compatible with 5V microcontrollers like Arduino Uno?

Yes, the module is fully compatible with both 3.3V and 5V logic systems. The onboard logic level shifting ensures safe communication. You can power it from any 3V to 5V supply.

Can I use SPI instead of I2C with this breakout board?

Yes, the LPS22HB chip supports both I2C and SPI interfaces. The breakout board exposes the necessary pins for SPI communication (CS, SCL, SDA/SDI, SDO). You must configure your code to use the SPI protocol and connect the pins accordingly.

What is the sensor's accuracy and how does temperature affect it?

The sensor has an accuracy of ±0.1 hPa. It features embedded temperature compensation that automatically corrects the pressure reading based on an integrated 16-bit temperature sensor, ensuring stable performance across its -40°C to +85°C operating range.

What libraries are available for programming this sensor?

Adafruit provides and maintains the Adafruit_LPS2X library for Arduino and the Adafruit_CircuitPython_LPS2X library for CircuitPython. These libraries handle communication, data reading, and configuration, simplifying integration into your project.
