12V 1-Channel IR Relay Module w/ Remote Control

Connect a 12V DC power supply to the module's VCC and GND terminals. Wire the live (AC hot) wire of your light fixture through the relay's COM and NO (Normally Open) terminals. The remote will toggle the relay, closing the circuit to power the light. Ensure all high-voltage AC wiring follows local electrical codes for safety.

The IR remote typically operates within a line-of-sight range of approximately 5 meters. Ensure there are no solid obstructions between the remote and the module's IR receiver. The remote uses standard infrared signals, so it may be compatible with universal IR blasters or learning remotes for system integration.

While primarily designed for IR remote control, the relay coil is driven by an onboard transistor. You can bypass the IR receiver by connecting a microcontroller GPIO pin to the transistor's base drive circuit to manually trigger the relay. Consult the module's schematic to identify the control pin for direct digital control alongside IR functionality.

A latching (self-locking) relay maintains its last switched position (ON or OFF) after a brief control pulse, without needing continuous power to the coil. This means if you toggle it with the remote and then remove the module's 12V power, upon repowering, the relay will remain in its previous state, which is useful for battery-powered or memory-critical applications.
