The JSN-SR04T-2.0 ultrasonic sensor utilizes a time-of-flight (ToF) principle, emitting 40 kHz sound pulses and measuring the echo return time to calculate distance. Its primary advantage is the physical separation of the sensing element and control electronics. The transducer is housed in a waterproof, sealed probe, allowing it to be placed directly in challenging environments while the control board remains in a protected location.
This design enhances durability for applications requiring sensing in moisture-prone areas. The module interfaces via a simple digital pulse protocol: a 10µs high pulse on the TRIG pin initiates a measurement cycle, and the ECHO pin outputs a high-level pulse whose duration is proportional to the measured distance. This standard interface ensures compatibility with a wide range of microcontrollers and single-board computers.
