Description

This sensor utilizes a platinum Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) element with a nominal resistance of 100Ω at 0°C and a temperature coefficient of 3850 ppm/K. The 4-wire design allows for precise resistance measurement by eliminating the influence of lead wire resistance, ensuring accurate temperature readings across its full -50°C to +200°C range.

Encased in a robust SUS304 stainless steel sheath, the probe is designed for long-term stability in demanding environments, including exposure to moisture, vibration, and industrial process media. The FEP-insulated and shielded cable provides excellent electrical noise immunity and chemical resistance, making it suitable for direct immersion in liquids or installation in harsh air environments.

Key Features

  • High-precision platinum RTD sensing element compliant with IEC/DIN EN 60751 standard.
  • Class B (F0.3) accuracy ensures reliable temperature measurement for process control.
  • Rugged SUS304 stainless steel probe construction for corrosion resistance and mechanical durability.
  • Four-wire connection method provides superior measurement accuracy by compensating for lead resistance.
  • FEP-insulated cable with stainless steel braided shielding offers excellent EMI/RFI protection and chemical resistance.
  • Optimized for fast thermal response time and long-term measurement stability.
  • Suitable for direct immersion in liquids, insertion into ducts, or mounting in industrial machinery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Class A and Class B accuracy for this PT100 sensor?

This sensor is specified with Class B (F0.3) accuracy per the IEC 60751 standard. Class B defines a tolerance of ±(0.3 + 0.005|t|)°C, where |t| is the absolute temperature in °C. It offers a robust balance of precision and cost for general industrial applications, whereas Class A provides tighter tolerances typically required for laboratory-grade instrumentation.

How do I wire and use this 4-wire PT100 sensor with a data acquisition system?

The 4-wire configuration uses two wires to supply a constant current to the RTD and two separate wires to measure the voltage drop across it. This method eliminates errors caused by lead wire resistance. Connect the current leads and sense leads to the corresponding terminals on a compatible RTD input module, PLC, or data logger. Ensure the excitation current is within the specified 0.3–1.0 mA range.

Is this sensor suitable for immersion in liquids or corrosive environments?

Yes, the SUS304 stainless steel probe sheath provides good corrosion resistance for many common liquids and industrial environments. The FEP-insulated cable is also chemically resistant. For highly corrosive media, verify the compatibility of SUS304 with the specific chemical. The sensor is not rated for a specific IP code for submersion, but the probe and cable junction are designed to be waterproof.

What is the maximum temperature and pressure this probe can withstand?

The specified operating temperature range is -50°C to +200°C. Exceeding 200°C may damage the internal platinum element and insulation. The probe is designed for general atmospheric pressure immersion and insertion applications. It is not rated for high-pressure vessels; for such applications, a pressure-rated thermowell should be used to house the probe.
