The Keyestudio photoresistor module utilizes a cadmium sulfide (CdS) photocell, a light-dependent resistor (LDR) whose electrical resistance decreases with increasing incident light intensity. This change in resistance is converted into a variable analog voltage signal by the onboard voltage divider circuit, providing a simple input for microcontrollers.
The module is designed for straightforward integration into 5V logic systems such as Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi (with ADC). Its spectral response is tuned to the visible light spectrum, making it suitable for general ambient light monitoring, dusk-to-dawn controllers, and interactive projects requiring light-level triggers.
