The OPT3001 Ambient Light Sensor Module integrates Texas Instruments’ high-performance optical sensor IC on a compact breakout board. It employs a precision photodiode and an advanced optical filter to achieve a spectral response that closely approximates the human eye’s sensitivity, while rejecting over 99% of infrared light for accurate Lux measurements under various light sources. The sensor’s internal 23-bit ADC and automatic full-scale ranging logic ensure optimal resolution across its entire 0.01 to 83,000 Lux range without manual configuration.
Designed for energy-efficient operation, the module consumes a mere 1.8µA typical current, making it ideal for always-on sensing in portable and battery-powered devices. Its digital I2C interface provides easy integration with microcontrollers, and the integrated interrupt system can be configured to alert the host processor based on user-defined light thresholds, minimizing system polling and further reducing power consumption.
