Description

The OF05ZAT flow sensor operates on a positive displacement principle using a magnetic oval gear rotor. As liquid flows through the chamber, it rotates the gear. A built-in Hall-effect sensor detects each rotation of the magnetic rotor, generating a precise digital pulse signal proportional to the displaced volume. This provides highly accurate flow rate and totalized volume data.

Engineered for durability, the sensor features a plastic housing rated for working pressures up to 1.75 MPa and can operate across a wide temperature range from -25°C to +70°C. Its G1/2″ male thread (DN15) allows for easy integration into standard piping systems for applications requiring reliable liquid monitoring.

Key Features

  • High-precision oval gear mechanism ensures consistent, repeatable flow measurement.
  • Hall-effect digital output provides clean, bounce-free pulses for easy microcontroller interfacing.
  • Broad operating voltage range (3.5V to 12V DC) offers flexibility for various system designs.
  • Constructed with RoHS-compliant, non-toxic materials safe for food-grade and fuel applications.
  • Designed for long-term reliability with minimal moving parts and a robust housing.
  • Low power consumption with a maximum operating current of 15mA.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the output signal of this flow sensor and how do I interface it?

The sensor provides a digital pulse output via its built-in Hall-effect sensor. Each pulse corresponds to a specific volume of liquid displaced by the oval gear. You can connect the signal wire to a digital input pin on a microcontroller (Arduino, ESP32, etc.) or a PLC counter input to measure frequency for flow rate or count pulses for total volume.

What is the operating voltage range and how much current does it draw?

The sensor operates from a wide DC voltage range of 3.5V to 12V. Its maximum operating current is 15mA, making it suitable for battery-powered or low-power embedded systems. Ensure your power supply can provide a stable voltage within this range for consistent sensor performance.

What liquids is this sensor compatible with, and what is its pressure rating?

This sensor is designed for clean, low-viscosity liquids including water, milk, gasoline, diesel, and light oils. It is not suitable for abrasive or highly viscous fluids. The plastic housing is rated for a maximum working pressure of 1.75 MPa (approximately 254 psi), suitable for many residential, commercial, and light industrial liquid systems.

How do I calculate flow rate from the sensor's pulse output?

Flow rate is calculated based on the pulse frequency. The sensor's specification indicates a relationship where frequency (F in Hz) equals 2.5 times the flow rate (Q in mL) per pulse (P). You will need to calibrate for your specific liquid to determine the exact K-factor (pulses per liter). Your code should measure the pulse frequency and apply the calibrated K-factor to compute the instantaneous flow rate.
