CubePilot HereFlow Optical Flow Sensor with Lidar - CAN Protocol, 5V
The CubePilot HereFlow is a dual-sensor navigation module combining a PMW3901 optical flow sensor and a lidar altimeter, designed for GPS-denied drone navigation with Ardupilot and PX4 flight controllers. It operates on a 5V supply and communicates via a robust CAN protocol for reliable integration.
Features
- Dual-sensor fusion of optical flow (PMW3901) and lidar for precise horizontal and vertical navigation.
- CAN bus communication protocol ensures reliable, noise-resistant data transmission to flight controllers.
- Effective optical flow range from 80 mm to infinity with a 42° field of view.
- Compact and lightweight design for easy integration into multirotor and fixed-wing UAV platforms.
- Wide operating temperature range from -20°C to +70°C for diverse environmental conditions.

The HereFlow sensor integrates a PMW3901 optical flow chip, which tracks surface patterns to calculate relative motion, with a time-of-flight (ToF) lidar module for accurate altitude measurement. This fusion provides a complete 3D velocity and position solution, enabling stable hovering and navigation in environments where GPS signals are unavailable or unreliable, such as indoors, under bridges, or in dense urban canyons.
Engineered for the demanding requirements of autonomous drone systems, the module outputs processed data over a CAN interface, ensuring high-integrity communication with popular flight stacks like Ardupilot and PX4. Its compact form factor and low power consumption make it suitable for integration into a wide range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), from small racing drones to larger survey platforms.
