This soil moisture hygrometer module operates on the principle of electrical conductivity through soil. The two exposed probes act as a variable resistor; as water content increases, soil conductivity rises, resulting in lower electrical resistance and a correspondingly higher output signal. The integrated LM393 comparator provides a stable digital switching output, while the analog pin delivers a continuous voltage proportional to moisture levels for more nuanced data acquisition.
Designed for durability in damp environments, the module is suitable for direct insertion into soil. Its straightforward interface requires only power, ground, and a single data line, making it ideal for automated irrigation systems, IoT environmental monitoring nodes, and educational projects focused on plant health and smart agriculture.
