Three-Way Soil Meter for Moisture, Light Intensity and pH Testing

The meter operates on a galvanic cell principle. When the stainless steel probes are inserted into moist soil, a tiny electrical current is generated by the electrochemical reaction between the metal and the soil electrolytes. This current powers the analog meter movement to display the moisture level. The pH and light sensors also use passive measurement techniques that do not require external power.

The moisture scale ranges from 1 to 10 (Relative Humidity units). The dial is color-coded: Red zone (1-3) indicates dry soil that needs watering. Green zone (4-7) represents the optimal, favorable moisture range for most plants. Blue zone (8-10) signals soil that is too wet, suggesting you should hold off on watering to prevent root rot.

To test pH or light, insert the probe into the soil for pH measurement or place the meter's light sensor (typically on the console) in the area you wish to measure. Then, turn the selector dial to the 'pH' or 'Light' setting. The needle will point to the corresponding scale on the dial, indicating the soil's acidity/alkalinity level or the relative light intensity.

After each use, remove the probes from the soil and wipe them clean with a soft, dry cloth to remove soil residue and moisture. For stubborn deposits, you can dampen the cloth slightly. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasives. Ensure the probes are completely dry before storage to prevent corrosion and maintain measurement accuracy for future use.
