The HS-S09AC soil moisture sensor operates on the principle of electrical conductivity, where the resistance between its exposed sensing probes varies with the moisture content of the surrounding medium. This change in resistance is converted into a corresponding analog voltage signal and a threshold-based digital signal, providing two methods for system integration.
Designed with a standard FR4 printed circuit board, the module is built for durability in typical indoor and protected outdoor environments. Its low power consumption of ≤20 mA makes it suitable for battery-powered or microcontroller-based systems, enabling precise monitoring of soil hydration levels for irrigation control, plant health studies, and environmental data logging.
