Description
The Unexpected Maker FeatherS3 Neo is a feature-packed development board built around the Espressif ESP32-S3 microcontroller. It combines high-performance processing with integrated wireless connectivity in the popular Adafruit Feather form factor, making it an ideal platform for IoT device prototyping and wireless sensor nodes.
Its architecture is centered on a 240 MHz dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor, supported by 8 MB of SPI flash and an additional 2 MB of PSRAM, providing ample resources for complex firmware, Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, and data buffering. The board’s integrated 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio, coupled with a proprietary 3D antenna, ensures reliable network connectivity without requiring external antenna components, simplifying enclosure design.
Power management is a key focus, with dual 700mA 3.3V LDO regulators and a circuit design optimized for battery-powered operation. This allows developers to build devices that leverage the ESP32-S3’s deep sleep modes for extended field deployment. The board includes a USB-C port with back-feed protection, 22 accessible GPIO pins, and a QWIIC/STEMMA QT connector for plug-and-play expansion with a vast ecosystem of sensors, displays, and actuators.
